I got their bestseller 天丼琥珀 Tendon Kohaku – Kohaku Tendon Tempura Rice Bowl from the set menu. Price for this is $18.50. It comes with a miso soup in a nice bowl that is covered. There’s also ginger pickle.

This is how the miso soup looks like. There’s some small bean curds and green onions in it. Miso soup are usually salty so you don’t drink too much of it. This taste alright.

Here is the 天丼琥珀 Tendon Kohaku – Kohaku Tendon Tempura Rice Bowl main dish. You can choose regular or spicy option. I choose regular. It is served in a small bowl and there is a plate on top so that you can put the tempura there. That way, you can eat the rice. The rice bowl includes rice and Kohaku Tendon Sauce. The protein meat tempura includes 2 prawns, 1 chicken and 1 squid. The vegetable tempura includes 2 French beans, 1 baby corn, 1 kabocha pumpkin and 1 shitake mushroom. There is also a soft fried egg.

I took the tempura out and put it on the plate. The rice and tempura already has some Kohaku tendon sauce on it. The sauce taste like sweet soy sauce with tempura sauce.

I really liked the soft fried egg. Its basically a poached egg that is deep fried. Inside the egg, there is still running egg yolk. You can break it so that your rice is filled with egg yolk. The vegetable tempura were pretty good and nice. The same thing goes with the protein tempura. The batter was nicely deep fried and it had some nice taste.

Overall, the tempura rice bowl is pretty good. It is a little pricey at $18.50 considering you can probably get tempura at Japanese restaurants at a lower price. However, their sauces are not bad and the deep fried poached egg is not something you see everyday. The service was pretty good too. They refilled our tea many times.
