I went and got brunch/lunch takeout at Ryan’s Chinese Seafood Restaurant today. It is also known as Wah Lun Chinese Seafood Restaurant in Chinese as well. This is a Cantonese Chinese restaurant and has the dim sum menu during breakfast, brunch and lunch.

Here is the Ryan’s Chinese Seafood Restaurant / Wah Lun Chinese Seafood Restaurant dim sum lunch menu. Small dishes are priced at $4.35, medium dishes are priced at $5.35 and large dishes are priced at $5.75. Though, almost half the dim sum dishes have their own prices and are higher than the large dim sum $5.75 price. Dim sum includes steamed, rice flour rolls, pan fried, deep fried, baked and desert. There are 48 dim sum items at Ryan’s Chinese Seafood Restaurant / Wah Lun Chinese Seafood Restaurant.
Ryan’s Chinese Seafood Restaurant / Wah Lun Chinese Seafood Restaurant Dim Sum Chef’s Special Lunch Menu
They also have Chef’s Special lunch menu as well. These include special items, congee, clay pot rice, lunch specials (fried rice and fried noodles). These items are typically more expensive than the dim sum menu items but are usually larger in portion size.
Steamed Shrimp, Pork & Imitation Shark’s Fin Dumplings – $5.75
First up, we ordered the Steamed Shrimp, Pork & Imitation Shark’s Fin Dumplings. It is a large dim sum item so it is priced at $5.75. It contains 4 pieces and just like the name, it has steamed shrimp, pork and imitation shark fin. The imitation shark fin is basically crystal noodles. There wasn’t much shrimp in this as it was mostly just pork. Regardless, the size of these are pretty big. This tasted ok. I prefer that it would have more shrimp though.
Deep Fried Shrimp Puree Dumpling – $6.35
This contains shrimp wrapped in wonton wraps that are then deep fried. It was juicy and had a lot of shrimp. This dim sum dish is served with a sweet and sour sauce. This taste not bad. There are 5 pieces in this dim sum. Price is $6.35.
Shrimp & Chives Dumpling – $6.25
This is a steamed dim sum and it contains some chives and shrimp. There are 3 pieces in this serving. Price is $6.25. This taste not bad.
Rice Flour Rolls with Crispy Bean Curd & Fish Paste – $6.65
This is probably the most expensive dim sum item on the first page of their dim sum menu. It is basically fish paste wrapped in crispy bean curd that is deep fried. Afterwards, it is wrapped in steamed rice flour roll. The fish paste and bean curd was really crispy. It is served with soy sauce, peanut sauce and hoisin sauce. This is probably the best item out of the four dim sum dishes I ordered.
Overall, it was a good meal. This is a dim sum Chinese restaurant that is catered to the local community in North Burnaby. The prices that they charge are quite reasonable and definitely affordable. Prior to COVID-19 which resulted in British Columbia banning dine-in service, they used to have 10% off dim sum if you order before 11am (dine-in only). However, they don’t have 10% off for dim sum takeout.
